I wanted more of a Saturn shaped lantern,So I cut the wire piece that it came with to only support the top of the shade. I also rigged it to cover an existing light fixture. It’s lightweight and looks great. Perfect size to fill my small space. Recommend.I bought this for my wife’s birthday because it reminded us of the charming rice paper lanterns we had at my old childhood lake cottage 30 years ago. Before ordering, I was worried that I would receive a cheap, poorly made, or shiny/plastic looking junk that would pale by comparison to stuff that was made in the old days. I am relieved to say the lantern we received is every bit as beautiful as the lanterns we used 30 years ago.The lantern we received is perfectly symmetrical, evenly wrapped in rice paper without any flaws. It looks even better in person than the vendor product photos on Amazon. The horizontal wrap wiring is perfectly straight sans only minor fluctuations that give it a hint of artisan touch instead of machine manufacturing (although I do assume these were machine made, but who knows). The lantern is supported in the center by what looks like a steel wire like a wire coat hanger. The wire support fit the lantern size and the lantern grooves with perfect precision, which is frankly surprising given the quality of the other crap I get from Amazon in this price range. If you can score the 24-inch lantern for ~$15 or less, it’s a great buy, assuming it doesn’t get damaged in shipping. My biggest concern with the lantern we received is that the packaging was very light, considering how delicate this item is, and considering how beat up other packages are that we receive. I was actually a bit surprised it was undamaged given how scant the packaging was, but perhaps the vendor knows what they’re doing here.I suggest the ivory-colored lantern because it looks more rustic and less sterile than the white and would fit in well with a warm colored or antique setting. It works well with a color changing LED bulb too. I got my wife a blue-tooth color changing “Govee” LED bulb to go in the lantern, and it’s great. My wife gets any ambiance she wants from the lantern for reading her Kindle on the porch in the evening with the cats, and I look forward to augmenting our holiday yard decorations with a color light show from the lantern. Orange for Halloween. Green and red for Christmas, etc.The wire came bent on one side and it wouldn’t fit correctly in the lantern. The one I had hanging for 10 years was great quality and easy to assemble. The wire on this one kept sliding off the holder and punched through the paper. Might have been the wrong size for the lantern. After sometime of bending and turning, finally got it to stay. It hangs crooked on the light fixture and now has holes in it. I will go back to my old one until I can find a better quality lantern.I ordered Ivory but got White. My review is simply about the product. I see a lot of ppl complaining about it being fragile..... my answer to that is its PAPER. You have to becareful with paper. The product is simply beautiful. Easy to open and install metal stand. It's exactly what I wanted and expected minus the color. Still beautiful. I ordered the ivory 24in to go in my boho living room. I may order a pale yellow, however it's largest size is 20 in. I wish they had it in 24. Either way, may order pale yellow, and put this white one in my room. It's such an affordable and beautiful piece for any room.I am ordering another one from the same seller. I already poke a hole on the side of the shade. The only complain I have is the hook, that’s why I did not give it 5 stars, it broke right off when I gently try to change the position. Maybe you are not to do that. I still think it is a very nice and sturdy! Love it , and love the size! I would to have 3 sizes small, medium and large, this one is large. Group them together in a corner of a room! It came very fast, and packed nicely! Merci!I love this product. It is so easy to assemble and adds amazing ambiance to my room. ?These lanterns are large, well made (for paper lanterns), and excellently priced. I spent thirty bucks once in a store for a lantern of this size! I debated over the size at first, wondering if I should get a larger or smaller one. I settled on this one, because it was the in-between size. I have moderately high ceilings, so I needed something big enough to fill the space, but I also have narrow rooms, so it had to not be so big that it made the rooms look even smaller. Well, it was just right! Probably for most rooms, in a range of heights and sizes, this would be the safe choice. The size and color makes a statement without being overwhelming. Even though they're large, they really blend in with the room and give it a spacious, flowing look. The paper is high quality, free of any peeling or tears. The frame is sturdy. There is a metal prong that goes inside to keep the lantern stretched open. Be sure to fit the two ends into the two little wire holes at the top, so they don't rip into the paper.I bought two of these lanterns for an office that had very cheap, ugly ceiling fixtures that I didn't want to put the money into replacing. So, I removed the fixtures and capped off the wiring, but there was still the problem of the ugly electrical boxes on the ceiling. Removing the wiring in them completely was not worth the effort/cost, so I bought these and installed them over the boxes, which are now hidden by these beautiful lanterns! So, fyi, the holes in the top of these lanterns are plenty large enough to fit over an electrical box, as well as run a
