There’s nothing quite like the authentic, natural look and feel of exterior wood surfaces. However, unlike many manufactured materials, they can require more care and maintenance to keep them looking beautiful. But choosing precisely the right wood finish has been a confusing task. Stemming from Storm Stain which was developed in 1979 and sold primarily in the New England area, the Storm System is a completely re-engineered line and has quite literally taken the country by storm. Virtually overnight, the popularity of this refreshingly intuitive approach has spread as far as the West Coast where the brand enjoys robust sales in hundreds of locations throughout California, Oregon and Washington. CHOOSING A CATEGORY Clear Category 1 finishes are the most transparent. They allow the most natural look of the wood to show through. Even with their transparency, they still provide a base level of CLEAR UV protection. Light Category 2 of the Storm System features finishes that allow the natural grain and texture of the wood to show through while enhancing its appearance with subtle color. Moderate For richer, more opaque color that still allows the natural look of the wood to show through, choose a Category 3 stain. Heavy For a completely opaque finish in a wide array of beautiful solid colors, Category 4 is what you are looking for. For best results, start with one of our primers in Category 5. Extreme Category 5 features the primers of the Storm System. These amazing products are invaluable when either the surface that is to be refinished is in extremely weathered, distressed condition, or if the surface is going to be exposed to extreme weather or high traffic and wear.
STAIN & TOPCOAT COMBINATIONUnlike other stains designed for wood exteriors, the Storm System High Build Stain also acts as a protective topcoat. This formula serves as a barrier against weathering, wear & tear, dirt, debris, and other damage. Get more with a dual-purpose wood finish.
